This item continues to show up on my windows update. I have installed it 9
times today and it is still there.

Navigate to the WINDOWS\Debug folder and open the mrt.log.
Scroll to the bottom of the log and copy&paste the last entry into your
reply, please.
It will look something like this -

I have the same problem as Lee and have attached the mvp.log as requested. It
appears from the log that the Malicious Software Removal Tool stopped
installing or hung up in September 2006. Please help with this most annoying
problem as it slows down my PC.
