windows mdeia center 2005 rollup 2 update

 
 
A Person Who Needs Help

please help me with this guys, ok, first i downloaded the update with no
problem but had to do a system recovery, after that i had to re-install all
the updates, after the high pority updates were done, i went on to download
this one but, it installed but it says the installtion failed, i tried 5
times and still failled, what should i do, please help guys!

I run into the same problem. I posted the same question before but got no
answer. I am wondering how many people experienced the same issue.

I have the same problem. I have this message. Code d'erreur: 0x643 Please,
help

I am having the EXACT problem and no matter what I try I still cannot get it
to install. This is extremely frustrating as the only reason why I want to
install this in the first place is so I can get the new WMP 11 beta which for
some reason you can't use unless you have this stupid update installed.
Also, it seems many people are experiencing the same problem but no one
professional has posted anything which is even remotely helpful. I give
Microsoft two thumbs down

I'm in the same boat as you guys. No usable explanations of this problem on
microsoft's or other tech sites that I can find. If there are a lot of
people having this issue it seems that MS should be looking into it and
communicating that action.

Same situation here, I'll try disabling some of the programs in memory and
installing the rest of the available updates

I see these posts regarding the Rollup 2 failure are over a month old,
so I will not go into detail here. If anyone needs assistance with the
issue feel free to email me at and put ROLLUP
2 in the subject so I don't delete it.

In short, you will need to uninstall an exisiting Security Update or
Hotfix in in order install the Rollup 2, then go back and reinstall
others. The Rollup 2 install tries to access certain files that the
existing updates won't allow access to.

It is easy to do and you will just have to review your log files.

Umm... simple intructions... maybe you will find your way:
1. In the Windows directory open the MCSetup log file and use the FIND
feature to find "643" (the error code you were receiving). Read over
these lines of text to find the update file that is failing. In my case
it was KB891593. Then, in the Windows directory locate the log file for
the update you identify... in my case, KB891593.txt . Use the FIND
feature here to find "fail". This should quickly lead you to any
component of this update that is causing problems (there will be
several entries. The info you want is near the end). Here I identified
KB904706.

2. On your control panel, go to ADD/REMOVE programs and check the "show
updates" box. Scan the list for the updates you identified and uninstall
them.

3. Go to WIndows Update and install Rollup 2 and reboot.

4. Return to Windows update and install any new updates it has for
you.

Ok... so that wasn't so brief... but this way you won't have to email
me
