Windows ME, cannot update sp6

when trying to install sp 6, it will start but will not finish, then it will
tell me I need files from the internet and acts like it is getting them but
doesn't. It keeps telling me I have to continue a recent install but it
won't let me. My computer was messing up about a week ago and I had to do a
recovery. I have IE5., but can't get 6 to download now. Can someone please
help. Thank you.

There is no SP6 for any program that I know of associated with Windows
Millennium Edition.

Either you have Windows NT, <insert your favourite superior being here>
forbid - or you have some serious problems with your Operating System, and
need to sort that out first!!!

You may have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.
