Ive been trying for weeks to update my ME system. I downloaded Internet
Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (via the update wizard) and when I attempt to
install it, it gets to 93% then fails with an error that has no number, and
simply says to restart & try again. Ive done this about 20 times. I've also
deleted the update folder, re-downloaded it and tried the whole thing, but
only gotthe same results. I really am blowing my mind up! Any help would be
appreciated.

sloppyJoe,

Try this : Create a temporary folder and name it IEBak.
Enable show hidden files and folders via Folder Options in the
Control Panel.
Then, using Windows Explorer, navigate to
Program Files\Internet Explorer\Uninstall Information.
Move all of the files from that folder to IEBak.
DO NOT Delete the folder.
Now try running IE's setup again.
If it installs, delete the temp folder IEBak AND it's contents.
If it does not, move all of the files back to
Uninstall Information and delete IEBak.

What you are experiencing is a known issue ususally caused by 3rd
party software, especially Norton AV, System Works, etc.
If you've downloaded the full IE 6 setup package advise you to boot
to Safe Mode and first attempt an install from there.

HEY MOW-

THANKS - IT WORKED!

There were a few odd errors about files that couldnt be found during the
installation, but so far I havent seen anything not working.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to help me out.

You're welcome ... you can confirm all necessary files are installed
by using IE's Repair Tool while in Safe Mode :
