Windows ME Update Error (0x80072F05)

Someone do have any advice?

I was having the same problem and received the same error # which I found at
the bottom of the Windows Update.log in the windows directory.
I also noticed that my email messages were not being listed in order
according to date. So I went into the control panel and sure enough the date
was messed up, but the time was correct. I don't know how that happened, but
since correcting the date, Windows Update automatically popped up today 'n'
now it works just fine.
Go figure??? Coincidence??? I don't get it??? Does anyone???

Thanks for the tip - had same problem in Win98SE. It is a problem with root
certificates - if your date is messed up on your pc then update will not
clear you as a valid user, because your certificates appear out of date.
