I have a problem with two updates. I have installed them approximately 11
times and each time they are documented as being successful. They keep
coming back everyday. What can I do to correct this problem?

The two updates are:

KB828026 - Critical uppdate for Media Player script command.

&

KB837009 - Cumulative security update for Outlook Expres 6.

What version of Windows Media Player (WMP) are you running (e.g., WMP 7)?

Outlook Express (OE): Help > About > Files: What versions of MSOE.DLL and
INETCOMM.DLL are displayed here, Irene?

Do you find any reference to KB823353 or Q823353 in Add/Remove Programs
(e.g., "Security Update - Q823353")?

I don't much experience in this line but when I look at the add/remove
programs it lists "windows explorer 6".

I don't see any reference to KB823353 or Q823353 in the add/remove programs.

I only see Q823559 & KB891711.

In my last message I should have said Windows Media Player 9 is the current
player that I am running. I don't have much experience in this line and I
don't know where to look for KB823353 or Q823353.

Try the following to resolve the 837009 problem:

Clear History, delete Cookies and delete Temporary Internet Files (including
offline files) via IE: Tools > Options > General, then...

1. Download the Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express 6 Service
Pack 1 (KB837009; all OSS) from the following link, saving it to your
Desktop:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

[ Optional: 2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode. (During the reboot, keep
pressing the F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears > Choose Safe
Mode > Enter.) ]

NB: Do not double-click on the downloaded file to install it cos it won't
work!

3. Rename the downloaded file to KB837009.EXE and copy it to C:\ (the root
directory of drive C; assumes drive C is the boot drive).

4. Start > Run > type or copy/paste the following into the box:

C:\KB837009.EXE /N:V

Press [ENTER]

5. Close the command window.

6. Reboot [into Windows] and then check in at Windows Update to see if the
problem persists.
=================
Try the following to resolve the 828026 problem:

1. Download the update using the following link, saving it to your desktop:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...7-211DE4BF9BD0

2. With WMP closed, double-click on the downloaded file to install it &
reboot.

It is probably my fault but anyway first of all when I went to the Microsoft
website to download the KB837009 file. It said that it wasn't available and
to go to the home page and search for it. I did that and downloaded
KB837009. I have it on my desktop but I don't know what you mean by root
directory of C:. I copied and pasted the file into my Drive C: into the
Windows directory but when I am in safe mode and type C:\KB837009.EXE/N:V it
says it is not found. I apologize for all this but what did I do wrong?

Assuming you do have a file called kb837009.exe in the c: drive
and it is not under any subdirectory in that drive, then you would appear
to have the file at C:\ (that is, the root--meaning there is no subdirectory
involved.)

So, the only apparent error from what you have given us is not leaving
at least one space between the file name (which is a program name)
and the program's switch. Try copying and pasting into the Run... dialog:

C:\KB837009.EXE /N:V

(two spaces inserted between the program name and its switch for clarity)

The downloaded Updates worked upon your instructions but when I scan for
updates the same two come up again in Windows Update. When I click on remove
and then scan for updates the same two come up again saying I have two
critical updates waiting.
