i wan't to upgrade to windows 2000 from windows me. what are the steps i need
to take to do so. (intell celeron pros., 127 mb ram, 30 gb hard drive)

You can't. A format and reinstall is required because Windows ME came out
after Windows 2000 so it's not really an upgrade.

1st Step.
Get another computer the one you have is way out of date anything other than ME
will not run on it

2nd Step. Install XP since Windows 2000 is not supported anymore and ME is (well
what can I say)

Also note that the present RAM (127mb) is not enough for anything today (including
Win 2000) and a HD of 30gig is a bit too small .

Save your data and info that you need and take out the hard drive and give the
computer for recycling

FUD! Windows 2000 is still supported; the end of extended support was just
recently announced by MS.

30GiB is sufficient even for Vista.
Depending on the processor speed (the slowest Celerons had 400MHz IIRC)
a memory upgrade to 384, 512 or 768MB RAM is sufficient for Windows 2000
or XP.
