Windows Media Center crashes repeatably when adjusting TV settings

I have Windows Media Center running on Vista SP2, on a brand new
CyberPower PC with an Avermedia TV tuner card.

In Windows Media Center, the following sequence of selections always
causes it to crash:

Settings
TV
Configure your TV or Monitor
Watch Video

Any idea what's wrong?

Look at the Event Viewer to find out clues.

OK, I did,
but I don't know how to interpret the results. Here's what Event Viewer
has under Windows Logs\Application:

Event 1001, Windows Error Reporting

Fault bucket 769581512, type 5
Event Name: CLR20r3
Response: None
Cab Id: 0

Problem signature:
P1: ehshell.exe
P2: 6.1.1000.18273
P3: 486c7eca
P4: Microsoft.MediaCenter.UI
P5: 6.0.6000.0
P6: 4a957597
P7: 1078
P8: 11e
P9: MYAATIFIWEYUEBF3DHIQD00N553RUCBH
P10:

Attached files:
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\WERB274. tmp.version.txt

These files may be available here:
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Win dows\WER\ReportArchive\Report0ad3cc99

Microsoft's Events and Errors Message Center had no help for this.

I know that ehshell.exe is the Microsoft Media Center shell--and that's
what I was interacting with when MMC crashed.

I also know that Microsoft has a hotfix for ehshell.exe on XP. But I
haven't seen one for ehshell.exe on Vista.

Event Name: CLR20r3 is a .net related error message

You can google CLR20r3 for related articles or simply try uninstalling .net
then reinstall.

I'm going to try it, but I do have one more question before I do it:

It says to uninstall .NET and then reinstall the *same* version of .NET
that I just uninstalled.

Wouldn't it make more sense to reinstall the very latest version of .NET
that Microsoft has released, rather than any older version?
And if so, where do I get it from? (Don't worry, I have a genuine copy
of Vista SP2, with the product ID and everything.)

Yes, the problem is just in the place I mentioned.
Other have suggested it's a .NET error; I'll look into that.

The .NET framework versions are not necessarily "upgrades" to one another.

Some applications are written to a certain version, so it is not unusual to
have multiple versions on a PC.

The .NET versions are not upgrades from earlier versions.

If you have programs that need .net 1.1, you must have .net 1.1
installed, .Net 2.0 will not work if a program asks for 1.1.

You probably need to have .NET 1.1, .NET 2.0, and .NET 3.5 and maybe .NET
4.0 all installed at the same time.

And all of the updates for those versions.

Windows Media Center at a minimum must to have .NET 1.1 and update
installed.
