Hello, I have just noticed that Windows Media Center is missing. I know it
used to be installed. I recently installed Catalyst Media Center that came
with my ATI TV Wonder 600 USB v2.0. I could not get the TV guide to work with
that software so when I went to try it out with Windows Media Center I could
not locate it. I am running Vista Home Premium with SP1 installed. Any advice
on how to get it back? I have already tried 'Turn Windows features on or off'
under Programs & Features in the control panel.

Thanks in advance,

There are several posibilities:
Click Start, and type "Windows Media Center", and run it
If no help:
1. Go to Start, type 'cmd.exe' in the Search box.
2. Right-click on 'cmd.exe' and choose 'Run as Administrator'.
3. Type 'net localgroup Administrators /add Local Service' and press
Enter.
If no help, others have reported that installing Vista to a clean drive made
WMCE work.

Thanks for the advice but no luck. Step 1 didn't produce anything helpfule
and step 2 returned the following:

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6001]
Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Windows\system32>net localgroup Administrators /add Local Service
System error 1378 has occurred.

The specified account name is already a member of the group.

I fineally got it back. Here's what it took.

"I had to change my default settings back to Microsoft.
In Control Panel - Default Programs - Set program access and computer
defaults -tick Microsoft button. Thanks Nilocrenrew(6/28/2007). "
