Windows Media Centre anomaly

I have several AVI files on my PC that WMC refuses to play, saying that it's
missing the required CODEC. The same files, however, will happily play in
WMP. What's going on? Is there something obvious I'm missing?

WMP will obtain the codecs from the Web while WMC will only try to access
them form the PC. Google for any one of the follow:

KLite
Vista Codec Pack
AC3Filter
CCCP

Any one or all of them should solve your issue.
