Hi,
I'm not sure if anyone here has experience in using Windows Media as a
delivery solution for live 24/7 content distribution for repeater stations
and towers. If so, it would be nice to hear from you.
I was delivering a 64Kbps audio signal to a Window Media player using a
trial account from a WM service provider. I had enabled logging on my encoder
and once the test was complete I was able to determine the server has dropped
the connection with my encoder six (6) times. The duration of the drop was
anywhere from 15-30 seconds. For a live radio broadcast, six drops are six
drops too many. Here's what I know:
- available bandwidth pipe at encoder: @240kbps up
- mms protocol used to test
- encoder located in St. John's, NL, Canada
- service provider in Hawaii
- test player in Vancouver
- test player is a Mac based OS
What can I do to eliminate /reduce the number of drops? Should I be looking
for a professional hardware instead of a Windows Media solution.
The radio station is a non-profit operation and the Windows Media solution
seems to be the most economical.
Thanks for your help.
