Hello. I am new at this so here it goes.
I installed Windows XP Pro Sp1 on my computer. Later I upgraded the Windows
Media Player to version 7. No problem there everything was fine. Still later
I upgraded to Windows Media Player 9. No problem there, everything is still
fine.
Then I upgraded to Windows Xp Pro Sp2 from Windows Update.
The update went fine, but when I would reboot the computer I get an error
message that says there was an internal application error from windows media
player. However when I use the application it works fine. Also there is no
notation of this in the event viewer. I upgraded the player to version 10,
but still get that error. I get that error from all accounts that I log on
to on this pc. But the player works fine when I use it and there is no
notation of this in the event viewer. I used msconfig and did a selective
startup using on option at a time but still get the error. I also went to
start->all programs->startup but the media player is not starting from there.
Another thing that happened is with the Norton System Works 2003 version.
It updates regurlarly and and is set for auto-protect. Yet when after the
windows media error window I get another window that says that my pc might
not be protected against viruses. I go into the security window and it say
that norton anti-virus is installed but its status is unknown. Yet when I
launch norton it says that autoprotect is on.
These two issues arose after the sp2 upgrade. I suppose I could re-install
the norton and that might solve that issue, but I was wondering if anyone
knew of a better or simpler way to do this. I've given up trying to solve
the media player error. Does anyone out there know how to solve this?
Thanks.
