My WMP11 has become nothing but an empty shell. None of the functions work. I
can still play music [from other sources] with it but that's all. Nothing is
working! Among the solutions I've tried, I un-install it back to WMP 10 and
started all over again. DIDN"T DO SQUAT! Am I the only one? Is there a
solution? So much for the Blues collection I was putting together for my
brothers 40th birthday! :+{ I've been trying to figure this out for almost 2
weeks. I'm just slightly above novice so please keep it simple and straight
forward. Thanks

Did you, by any chance, change the location of where your music is stored?

I do have a seperate folder that contains all of my music. I only put 4 or 5
rated music in my WMP. I was actually using WMP when it suddenly stopped
working and indicated that there was no media of any sort in it. It just
stopped working! I even tried to rip music into WMP and it still indicated
EMPTY! I've double clicked, I've played a 2 hour play list, still empty. I've
re-installed it several times. Still nothing. When I rolled back to WMP 10 it
restored the music I had previous to WMP 11 but it still would not let me add
new music. Something is missing, like drivers, commands, something! I have
such a love/hate relationship with my PC! Oddly my playlists that I created
with WMP are still in the main Windows music folder. I can still play them
but I can't edit info, rate, rearrange, Nothing! I'm so glad I've backed up
all of my music!

My guess is that if you look in the folder you had your music in, that
it is still there...or your play lists would have no source to play.

I'm not looking at WMP right now, but there is a setting that tells it
where your music should go. Compare this with the actual location and
see if they correspond. If they don't adjust the setting so it
corresponds to the actual location of the files. Did you change the
location for your music from its default?

If I did, it was done unwittingly. The only settings changed were video and
jpeg related. I have an extensive photo/art folder and thought perhaps it was
overloading or clogging WMP. I never used it for those formats so why let
them take up space. Tomorrow I'll turn them back on and see if those items
will migrate and I'll search for all audio folders. Before the crash WMP
picked up every little file relating to these formats faster than I could
delete [the not so important] photos or songs. The weather's been so nice,
it's hard to stay inside and devote several hours to an exasperating PC
glich. I'd rather be gardening! I need a clean-the-house/battle PC day!
Thanks for your suggestions so far. You're giving me a calmer approach. I
want quick fixes and instant gradification damn it! LOL
