Windows Media Player 11 Security & DRM horrors

Downloaded an album from MSN Music which WMP11 now refuses to play or burn
when i click on a file it says that I need a secuiry upgrade, which I click
to install and then...nothing happens. I have looked on the Windows Update
site to see if I can find the DRM Security update, there it is but the
UPGRADE button is not active, the error message in the bottom corner says I
need to upgrade my security!!

I'm running the latest version of IE and have Norton personal firewall
installed, thought I was secure enough, oh and it's the latest version of
WMP11.

Round and round in circles I go...can anyone suggest how my MS product can
play the album I downloaded from an MS music website? Before I ditch the
whole thing and go to i-tunes?

Same problem here. I tried to listen to an MP3 recording from the web and
got the C00D0006 message which I can't locate on the Error Message Help of
course. I can't download the security for the Flash something or other
update. I'm getting ready to throw this thing across the room and get a MAC!
It's been two frustrating days. What a waste of time!

Are you allowing Help to search all products?
3 hits for MP9 and earlier:

http://search.support.microsoft.com/...=20&1033comm=1

But it's actually simpler just to use Live Search and restrict it to the KB site
which somehow manages to find 2 more articles than that:

http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q...n-US&form=QBRE

(Live Search for
c00d0006 site:support.microsoft.com
)

Hi Folks, thanks for replying - problem is that the fixes are all for earlier
versions of WMP, unfortunately WMP11 doesn't have a Tools button that allows
you to do anything with the missing Licenses. These are files downloaded from
MSN that I'm trying to play which should come with usage rights, but the
files say they are missing.

I have the same problem and found this promising web page:

http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/...crlupdate.html

However, when I clicked the upgrade button, I got this: "An error was
encountered during upgrade."

Well, I found an article that solved my problem:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/925705/en

Following the instructions in the "resolution" section (note: renaming the
DRM folder makes the Upgrade button active on the upgrade page) fixed
everything, even though the listed "cause"s don't seem to apply to me.
