Yeah, I even took it two steps further and it didn't work. I downloaded the
codec pack and that didn't work. I even wiped my hard drive and re-installed
the OS. It never played DVDs even after the clean install. I flashed my
BIOS, got the latest drivers for every piece of hardware and still nothing.
I get the same message:
"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with
digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try
installing an updated driver for your video card."
I get the same FBI warning at the beginning (teasing me that it's playing
but it's really not) and then the above quote pops up. I'm really starting
to hate Vista x64. Of the half dozen computers I've built, I've never had
problems like this ever. It's very frustrating. I reinstalled DVD X player
and it works fine.
I also tried this... I played a DVD with X player then I popped up WMP 11
to play that same DVD. WMP tried to play it, but there was massive
distortion with mostly a pixelized green picture. You could hear a lot of
distortion. DVD X Player was playing normally as this was happening.
I think it's pathetic that Windows Media PLAYER doesn't play DVDs. Any
other suggestions? Thanks.
