One thing I don't like about Live Messenger is that you have to have Windows
Media Player installed to use MusicMix or Now Playing (despite having a third
party winamp plugin).

I went out of my way to remove Windows Media Player because it screwed up my
music library's high res album art. Since there's no installer for Vista, I
won't be able to use the MusicMix or Now Playing features.

Could you sort this out?

Greetings,

I've written my own applications which make use of the now playing functionality and I don't
really see any particular reason why it wouldn't work sans Media Player installed (especially
given some versions of Windows don't even have it).

For a proper repro scenario, could you tell me how you removed it specifically? I already
tried just deleting the folder and it didn't break the functionality as it continued to work
in my own code, a winamp plugin and iTunes.

MusicMix is a lost case though since it uses the WMP COM control.
