Windows Media Player does not include the codecs necessary to play DVD
movies. Because of licensing issues, the codecs have to be obtained
through another source. You can get the necessary codecs through
installing the InterActual player that many DVDs contain on the discs, a
program such as PowerDVD or WinDVD, or third party codec collections
(Vista Codec Pack, for example).
I would recommend checking your Add/Remove Programs control panel to
see if any of those programs are installed. If you do have any of those
on your PC, you may have to reinstall the program in order for DVD
functionality to be restored in WMP.
