windows media player fails

Yesterday I uploaded MVI_1138.AVI from my camera to my laptop.
Then I played it (to see if it was good).
Then I played it for guests twice more (so it must have been good).

Today it will not play.
WMP indicates that it does not recognize the file type.

Any suggestions???
