Windows Media Player Hotfix 828026

I am running Windows ME and have all the updates, but 828026 is installed but
it still shows under critical updates. I have tried everything in the other
postings, www3.telus.net both sites listed and ran a scan at Belarc where all
my hotfixes are verified working. I am really frustrated. I even send a
request to Microsoft and THEY didn't have a solution. ANYONE OUT THERE?!!!!

Go to Folder Options in the Control Panel and click on the View tab.
Put a check next to Show hidden files and folders and UNcheck
Hide protected operating system files. Click Apply, then OK.

Now search the system for every WMP.dll file and delete each copy.
Then reinstall WMP 9.
Install the update.

rrI can't tell you how much I appreciate your help! It was simple and it
really worked!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I have turned on the
automatic update agin so I know of any critical issues! I guess wmp.dll was
corrupted? I tried before to reinstall WMP 9.0 but what you told me really
did the trick and fast! Sandy
