Windows Media Player --- Internal Application Error on startup

Hi,

Since yesterday I have been getting an error message when
I try to run Windows Media Player. There is nothing
specific in the message, it just says "An internal
application error has occured." and there is only OK
button. There is no "Help", or any other explanation. I
tried restarting the computer several times, and it does
not help. However, if I try to listen or view streaming
video or audio, with the plugin that is used by my browser
(IE 6), I don't have problems.

Does anyone know what I should do?

Sorry, no real answer for you. I'm having the same problem. A
internal applicaiton error that doesn't seem to actually cause an
problems other than an annoying pop-up on startup after logging in. N
entries in startup lists in the start menu or in msconfig that woul
account for it. My spyware checkers don't find anything to worry abou
and there don't seem to be any unusual processes or services runnin
under task manager. I too, would greatly appreciate any assistance.

I've been scanning help sites for weeks and this is the first time I'v
found a post describing the exact problem I am having. Some solution
I've tried haven't done anything at all, including upgrading to WMP 10
