Windows Media Player plays clips with inconsistent brightness!

I am using WMP components in software and have stumbled across an
issue. This issue also manifests itself in standard WMP.

It appears that when certain windows media player does not use a
consistent brightness when playing the clips. For example, say I play
a clip with a white background. If I play that clip again (using a
playlist) the white background will appear darker.

Usually, the first movie appears at correct brightness then remainder
will appear darker. Occasionally, a movie in the middle of a playlist
may appear at the correct brightness again.

I have used WMV and MPEG and the same issue occurs.

This is not related to playlists because programmatically I created two
players which play the same clip and one is darker than the other.

Has anyone ever experienced these problems before, or have suggestions
which may solve this problem?

Any help is immensly appreciated.

Hello,
What is the easiest way to convert my movie library (AVI-format) to wmv?
The files are organized in (sub)folders on my hard disk

I am thinking about writing batch file to convert every AVI to WMV
Is there a command line option?
Are there other utilities?

Have you any idea on the nature of the brightness issue? I can send
examples for you to test if you would like to determine MS bug or not
(email me if interested).
