Did you install anything or make any system changes in the last few days?
If you open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del, do you see a
wmplayer.exe item on the Processes page? If so, select it and click End
Process to kill it, and try starting Windows Media Player again.
If that doesn't help, find Command Prompt in the Start Menu, right-click
it, select Run As Administrator, and type the following:
sfc /scannow
Press Enter and let it run until it completes.
