When i was using Windows Vista beta, everything seemed to work fine. Once I
purchased and installed the full version (March 07), my computer slowed a
bit. Everytime I use media player, even when no other programs are running,
my hard drive spins constantly. Songs constantly skip and then my hard drive
freezes, my computer blue screens, and reboots with a message says it cannot
find the hard drive. Only after i manually shutdown the notebook and then
restart it will vista load again. After disabling superfetch, the hard drive
performance improved for a few days and then i began to have this same
problem again. I haven't installed any new hard ware on this notebook. I've
run disk diagnostics and none of them have isolated a bad sector on my hard
drive. I'm wondering if this is a problem with my hardware or Windows Media
Player. My hard drive only seems to freeze like this when playing music. It
doesn't have this problem with any other applications. I have not tried
other windows capatible media players yet. So, I am not sure if this problem
is ubiquitous to all media players.
