Windows Messenger 5.1 update gone wrong !

I recently downloaded the update for this, as per Microsoft's instructions
and it wouldn't install, it comes up with the stoopid error message:-

"an error occured during the installation of assembly component.
(BZA34B2S-54A3-446F-976B-C3BC278D95C) HR RESULT:- 2147024864

Now every I try to open Adobe the Windows installer starts up trying to
install it but it won't install and it is difficult to stop the installation
process, it just goes around in a big loop.

How do I fix this ????

Unfortunately, MS Messenger does not yet install over Windows Update. As to
your installer issue, you may need to fix your Windows Installer service.
Here are some instructions regarding it on a webpage devoted to explaining
how to rip out .NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1. If you use the following
webpage, please:
1. Do NOT rip out the .NET Framework 1.0 or .NET Framework 1.1 while trying
to repair the Windows Installer.
2. Use the instructions there to properly employ msizap.exe on the Windows
Installer, and see if that can't fix your issue.

Please pay particular attention to the section on using the Msizap.exe
utility.
