I have tried to install Windows live (inc Msgr 9) on a an Asus notebook, XP
with all SP's. Messenger does not function. It says it can't set up audio and
video and when I try to connect with a contact it tells me i am not on line,
I am. All firewalls checked and all ok. MSN Messenger works fine. I want to
uninstall and do a clean reinstall but no way can I do this through the
control panal. I want to get to video conferencing with my Mesenger but
Windows live does not seem to work. How can I uninstall and try again please

I am assuming you have downloaded and are using the latest live messenger
from http://download.live.com

you can remove it from the control panel if you go to
the add remove program and select WINDOWS LIVE ESSENTIALS and then select
uninstall-change

then has an option to uninstall one of the components if you want..

Yes the download is from dowload.live.com. I have tried removing via CP and
Live Essentials but Live Essentials will not remove. It is almost as though
it is protected.
I normally have no problem with removing stuff. On my second computer I hve
live 8.5 running very happily.

Ah! Some progress I have acheived a re-install but the webcam is not
accepted. I tried to do an Audio and Video setup and I got a message that
Messenger was unable to do the setup. (the webcam and audio is working fine
on Skype)I shut down Messenger 9 on one computer, loaded 8.5 on another
computer and it works fine. Any ideas why the webcam does not work. I see on
various discussion groups all over the web that others are having this same
problems with 9

Nik
I have exactly the same problem - I log in without a problem but the camera
won't start when I try a video call, saying it is 'busy'. When I try to run
Audio & Video setup I get a message saying that this 'cannot be started'

This has to be a bug

Help!!!!!

Cheers

Mike
