Windows Messenger Has Stopped Working

Am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Almost every time I start Windows
7 from either sleep or from cold boot I get the above message and have to
click on Close program and then restart Messenger. However if I then put
system in sleep or reboot again I get the same message again. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled Windows Live multiple times and cleaned up
registery files as indicated by MS instructions. After doing all this work
the problem is corrected for a short period and then I'm back to the same old
message. This problem has plagued me since the purchase of my machine in
December. Other than this problem my system has been stable and I have not
loaded or unloaded any additional programs. Any ideas on fixes that will
last? Thanks
Thom

I have the identical experience. I go to start+ all programs+ and click
windows live messenger and reopen it... and it starts just fine till the next
boot/restart. It didn't start doing that with a clean install till I started
adding third party software ..but which program is causing it is a mystery. I
don't want to delete one program at a time to find out which one is causing
the failure. If anyone has a fix please post it here...thx

That's why there is Manage Add-ons (Internet Options, Programs tab). E.g.
you can group them by Publisher, only enable ones from trusted publishers
and test with that combination. If that works you don't have to "delete"
anything.

Tip: one direct way of getting to that tab is to Run... (press Win-R and
enter

control.exe inetcpl.cpl,,5

Good luck
