Verify that the Microsoft Cryptographic Services Service Is Started

To verify that the Cryptographic Services service is started (and to start
it if it is not):

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
3. At the command prompt, type net start cryptsvc, and then press ENTER.
4. Type exit to quit Command Prompt.

Register .Dll Files

Re-register the following .dll files:

Softpub.dll
Wintrust.dll
Initpki.dll
Dssenh.dll
Rsaenh.dll
Gpkcsp.dll
Sccbase.dll
Slbcsp.dll
Cryptdlg.dll

To do so:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
3. At the command prompt, type the following lines and press ENTER after
each line:

regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

4. Click OK when you receive the message that DllRegisterServer in FileName
succeeded.
5. Type exit to quit Command Prompt.

I do have the same problem.
Thanks for your suggestion, but it did not solve my problem.

Microsoft Cryptographic Services Service Is Started
When trying to register I get.

softpub.dll succeeded
wintrust.dll was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error
code 0x80070005
initpki.dll failed to load: "make sured the binary i stored at the specified
path..."
dssenh.dll succeeded
rsaenh.dll succeeded
gpkcsp.dll failed to load: "make sured the binary i stored at the specified
path..."
sccbase.dll failed to load: "make sured the binary i stored at the specified
path..."
slbcsp.dll failed to load: "make sured the binary i stored at the specified
path..."
cryptdlg.dll was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error
code 0x80004005

I am running Vista Ultimate, and Windows Live Messenger 8.1.0178.00

Do anyone have any suggestion?

Best regards,
Ole-Kristian Losvik

I have upgraded to Flash player 9, but I still cannot log on. I get the
error message 81000306 and messenger says there is a problem with my
internet connection (when I know my internet connection is fine).

Is this fix relevant to Vista only? What about XP-Home? Thanks.

I have the same problem since wednesday morning (4/4/07). I keep getting
"Error code: 81000306" when trying to sign in. I check the Cryptographic
Services service, registered the dlls and updated Flash Player (though my OS
is XP), and I keep getting the same error. I know the only change in my
computer on Tuesday was a MS-Update (KB925902), so I removed that update, but
I still get the same error in WLM.

Any other suggestions in order to solve the problem?

Greetings,

This is old advice and won't help. This was for the 8.1 beta, this was all fixed in the last
major (not beta) flash update which is automatically prompted to use the final of 8.1.

8.1 final is fully compatible with Vista as is the latest non-beta Flash.

Hi,

Actually this is more relevant to XP than Vista, as half of these DLLs don't even exist in
Vista.

I followed all of the steps listed by raybo. No joy. Cryptographic Services
was already running. After re-registering the .dll files, when I tried to
open up Messenger, it seemed to be working on opening the program more than
previously. I saw another post that said it took her "forever" for messenger
to open. Since I doubt I'll live that long, I just might wait for the next
version. Thanks for the help.

Well i now think this problem definitely lies with the use of Zone Alarm
.....

It appears the IM Secure is the culprit... there is a work around but it
means a LOT of file editing.
I would suggest uninstall Zone Alarm ( if your using it of course lol ) and
reinstall a different firewall... Comodo is Free and gets very good reviews,
but there are lots of others too.
Try firstly to Disable Zone Alarm and see if the problem goes away. If it
does then you now have the answer.
