Hello,

If anyone can help I would be very greatful! I have just re-installed my PC
and updated my Windows, everything is fine, but now I cannot check for more
Microsoft Updates as it states " Files required to use Microsoft Update are
no longer registered or installed on your computer." when I click to install
them it just repeats the message. Also since this last update I am unable to
use MSN, it is very slow at letting me type in my Sign On details and says
the service is unavailble.

Can anyone help please? If you do not respond here I would appreciate an
e-mail to

Thanks again!

Many users have reported that simply re-registering the MSXML3.DLL seems to
fix the problem.
1. Click Start.
2. Choose Run.
3. In the Run box, type: regsvr32 MSXML3.DLL
Press okay

I am having the same problem and have registered this dll as well as many
suggested others and it is still not working. Could it be an AD issue? Not
all computers here have problems.

Re-install Windows Update files

http://download.windowsupdate.com/v6...gent20-x86.exe

Note If you have an x64-based computer, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v6...gent20-x64.exe

Click Save in the File Download-Security Warning dialog box, and then select the location where you
want to save the file.
Double-click the file that you saved

Note that if it says "Install is not needed since Windows Update Agent is already installed.", run
the exe with the command line switch /wuforce, like this:
WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe /wuforce

You're welcome Tomskey. Glad it worked for you.
The thanks goes to all who have contributed with their feedback about what works and what doesn't.

Running regsvr32 MSXML3.DLL didn't help BUT the Windows Update Agent
installation did and was able to proceed with Updates. NOTE: this problem
occurred during August updates period.
