windows mobile device center is not working

Hi. I have Vista 64 bit and presumably the latest (recently downloaded and
updated) WMDM. When I select to start Windows Mobile Device Center, I see
the splash screen but nothing further. The Windows Mobile Device Center
splash screen stays frozen on my screen. When I connect my Windows 6.1
mobile device (through a USB cable) it does not sync with my Outlook 2007.

Any suggestions/thoughts/ideas appreciated.

Thanks,
Doug

Doug,

I would recommend connecting your mobile device to your PC first and let it
get itself connected to your PC. Once this is done WMDC should
automatically open to create the partnership between the PC and your phone.

Clinton,
I have have walked many paths on this problem--including the one you
suggest. When I start wmdc from start>programs i see the splash screen, and
nothing else.
When I just plug my wmd in with a usb, the tray usually adds the wmdc icon
and then i will often see, "Windows mobile device sync center host has
stopped working." I have uninstalled wmdc and reinstalled--without a
problem. But wmdc will not sync my wm 6.1 device. Just to test the usb
connection from vista to my md, i updated the rom in my md. the update of
rom worked without a hitch. so, the computer is able to talk with the
device, via usb. any thoughts?
Thanks,
Doug

Doug,

Have you tried to connect the device with the Advanced Network Option in the
USB connection disabled?

Yes, I uncheck the Advanced Network Option, and connected my 6.1 mobile
device with a usb cable. in the tray, all seemed well (i noticed the device
driver being successfully installed) until the wmdc splash screen displayed
and remained fixed with the message, "Please wait while Windows Mobile Device
Center starts." The splash screen remained fixed on my screen, and my device
would not sync.
