having finally fixed 0x8007007E with fine help from
http://www.updatexp.com/0x8007007E.html THX! updates running fine. Now, see
WMSRT as recommneded update, and all the posts of problems, have avoided so
far.
Q: with norton AV or similar running, why would I want to "chance" this
monthly download? How does it add value??

A. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890830

The only known issue was with the November release of the tool. It's
never caused an issue on any system here. And, it detects rootkits,
which NAV does not.

Thanks for the feedback. Rootkits...hmmmm...there is an IM'd machine with
"profilesbyte" embedded somewhere, takes over IE6, would this be a rootkit??
