Hi, Jay.
First, as you probably know, Outlook does not include ANY news reader
abilities. All it can do is call up whichever news reader you have
installed. Vista comes with Window Mail integrated, so it is installed
automatically whenever Vista is installed, whether you want it or not. WM
includes both an email client, which approximately duplicates the one in
Outlook, and a news reader.
My Outlook 2007 toolbar has a New button, but not News. Are you SURE yours
has a News button? OK, I see now that I CAN add a News button to Menu bar
or to the Go menu. I never knew that!
Now that I've added the News button, clicking it takes me immediately to
Windows Live Mail, which I've set as my default News application.
To change your default, go to Control Panel | Default Programs. Your
choices include both "Windows Mail" and "Windows Mail (News)". Please post
back with questions.
