I updated the MS updater and it looks okay as for the changes in the screens
and on the start menu, however, I ran the scan and it reported no updates
required, and well I am usually up to date on the Windows XP side, but was
curious too see what it may find for my Office 2000 apps, it reported nothing
as well, but to be sure I went to the Office Products site and had it scan my
PC and sure enough it reported that I needed a Word 2000 security update.

So my question is this, why did the Office site notice my need but not the
Microsoft Update scan???

If this update process is supposed to combine all of the MS Family, how did
it miss what the Office Products site found??

Not everything which has been offered for Office products has been sent over
to Microsoft Update, Jim. I believe you need to have at least Office XP
(the 2002 version products) installed for MU to pay attention. Office 2000
is now five years old, so if you continue to use that version just remember
to check the Office web site.

I have 2 XP Pro machines and running windows update on one shows both
windows and office updates and running it on the other shows only windows
updates, both machines have office 2003 installed desktop and notebook, the
notebook found 3 windows updates and 1 office update today and the desktop
only showed 3 windows updates and no office updates, after a successful
update on my notebook, I restarted and ran windows update again and it shows
on the left side windows xp family (0) and Office 2003 (0) which I guess are
now updated but on the desktop it only shows windows xp family, so where is
the office 2003 gone? I know a update is available because going to
officeupdate shows me it

Jim;
Your version of Office is not detected by Microsoft Update.
Office XP and later are:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...e/default.mspx
You will need to continue to check at the Office site.

That site fixed it, thanks. I still don't understand why my notebook didn't
have to go through this process
