I had posted this before and was told to do a search, when I explained that I
am not getting any error codes I got no response, so I have created some
photos of what I am seeing.

I did an inplace repair, I then installed XP SP3 and not no other updates
will install, any suggestions? TIA

As many will tell you - ignore the title and symptoms listed in the article
referred to. Do method 1 and 2 and see if it fixes your issue whether or
not you repaired anything.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144
Try method 1 and try to update*.
If fails - try method 2 and try to update*.

*try to update:
- Visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
- If it asks you to install anything before you see a selection of "Custom"
or "Express" - do so.
- Once you see the "Custom" or "Express" selection, choose "Custom".
- Scan for updates.
- When it lists what it finds - install the critical ones.
- You are generally safe doing the Optional Software Updates. I suggest
avoiding the Optional Hardware Updates completely.

Hope that helps - come back and let us know!

(Although you were given that answer before - by me no less - and never let
us know if it worked or not..)

Also - you never gave the exact patch that was failing... That was something
possible without pictures (since the answer is also in the pictures - you
saw that too. heh)

I'm having the exact same problem with all updates I've tried since I
installed SP3. I can't install any optional hardware or software updates.
Same Screen as SteveL and no error code.

Same screen exactly - down to the actual update not installing?

Some query as I presented to SteveL then - whether or not the following has
been tried and for you to return here and respond with the results of trying
it...

As many will tell you - ignore the title and symptoms listed in the article
referred to. Do method 1 and 2 and see if it fixes your issue whether or
not you repaired anything.

Try method 1 and try to update*.

- You are generally safe doing the Optional Software Updates. I suggest
avoiding the Optional Hardware Updates completely.

Hope that helps - come back and let us know!

Thanks for the reply, I wish it where this simple. I have tried this and
other options to no avail. This issue is on a PC without SP3, I installed SP3
on a different PC and all updates have stopped, granted it is just the Net
Frame v 2.0 which I un-installed and it still keeps asking me to install the
update. Go figure. According to PA Bear in another post apparently something
to do with MS website.

Please keep the suggestions coming....

I did what you said and it does not work, now I am having the same problem on
both PC's. It was working OK after I did an in place repair then stopped
working all together.

Post the last hundred or so lines from WindowsUpdate.log (usually found in
c:\windows).
