I am currently trying to upgrade a HP Laptop from Windows Professional SP1 to
SP2. I have all the current windows updates to this day, i just need to get
SP2.

Everything installs correctly however when i restart it loop boots. It will
now not let me get into windows normally. I can get into Safe Mode to remove
SP2 installation then restart and everything is fine. I have tried Windows
Updates to get SP2. I have an SP2.exe saved on a flash drive, which has
worked on many computers up to this date, also did the same thing.

When i checked Event Viewer -> System -> DCOM Errors 13times. The reason
with those is that it can't be started in safe mode.

Go into Control Panel | System | Advanced | Startup and Recovery and uncheck
Automatically restart option.

Then reinstall SP2 ... when it reboots and fails it will not loop. Maybe
then you can get a handle on it.

Also, try rebooting with menu (F8) and selecting Debugging Mode, this should
display what is being loaded as Windows boots. You may then see if it is a
driver causing the problem.

I would also disconnect any peripherals not needed (USB devices, printers,
....)

I was able to get a Blue screen with the Code 0x0000007E, i tried debugging
mode and it blue screen'd and Auto-Rebooted on it. Tried removing the
graphics driver and its still doing the same thing. So i dont think its like
to that.

You wouldn't by chance use ZoneAlarm Security Firewall?

Check fixes here:

http://www.runpcrun.com/0x0000007E

Also, if you GOOGLE 0x0000007E, you will get many other suggestive patches,
all depending on your system configuration.

No, no ZoneAlarm is installed. I also tried http://www.runpcrun.com/0x0000007E

Quoted from the Microsoft website it said
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\ Intelppm"
Change the "Start" Value data box, to 4"

But there was no registry there for it. I might have to uninstall and find
a XP SP2 disk to erase everything and reinstall it. cuase im running out of
ideas and place on the internet to look.
