The home machine is probably behind a Network Address Translation (NAT)
device, like a router or switch. Such a system cannot issue an accurate
request, since it thinks it’s a local IP, and the router is translating it's
web IP for it.
Such a home machine might 'hack' the RC ticket to reflect this.
There is also the consideration of the port being guarded by a firewall.
(Port 3389, in most cases) This firewall would have to be forwarding port
3389 to the IP of the local machine.
All this is dependant on the comfort level of the system user. They have
created their own Local Area Network (LAN) and now discover it requires
knowledge to use it. One workaround for them they might be able to do is
remove the router from the system (They will need to have the Windows
Firewall going if they do that) Then the RC ticket (request for assistance)
should be right.
