I have a pc that has Vista Business installed, recently like today for some
strange reason when you go through windows to shutit down, it wants to start
right back up on its own. The motherboard does power down, you can here it.

Strange thing is when you use the power button on the front(like you would
use to turn on the pc)it shuts down like it is supposed to.

Any Thoughts?

David

Hi David,

Usually that is a sign that a driver is hanging on shutdown. Windows
senses the crash and restarts rather than shutting down.

Try booting into Safe Mode and then shut down to see if it does it
properly. If so, you'll have to isolate the driver that is hanging.

Well actually I already tried safe mode with the same results, checked bios
and theres nothing enabled in the wake section, replaced power button and
reset button, still the same, Went in and changed "Automatic Restart on
Failure" so I could see a blue screen, but no blue screens!

FUNNY THING
I NOW HAVE 2 PC'S DOING THE SAME THING

Could this be an upated problem, I noticed both pc's downloaded and install
updates a day apart.

ANOTHER FUNNY THING
I used system restore to roll back a few days, and still the same.

Very Confused pounding on a keyboard

You could try removing the last updates via Add Remove Programs (make
sure show updates is checked) to test.
