Hello,
Me: Dell Inspirion E1505 laptop, Windows XP MCE 2005 (all latest SP's,
updates; not IE7/WMP11 yet).
I don't have any network (i.e. single home computer & a Workgroup), and use
telephone modem dialup.
Windows Update lists an item for that has recently appeared (in category
"Software, Optional", i.e. not "High Priority").
Recently meaning a month of so, more or less. The item:
Windows Rights Management Services Client with Service Pack 2 (KB917275)
Release Date: October 31, 2006; Date last published: 11/28/2006; Download
size: 2.3 MB
More information:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=917275
The "more info" article above has a link at file top: "View products that
this article applies to", which jumps inside the page bottom to this line...
APPLIES TO
• Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) for Windows Server 2003
This is the only product listed that the "article applies to".
I don't understand why this item has shown up, as I don't have Windows
Server 2003 (that I know of?).
I also see the title says "Client" which I certainly could be, but the "only
applies to" list confused me.
In any event, is it still correct (or OK) for me to install anyway?
I know installing is optional, but I have no reason to say yes or no.
In general, staying current is preferable, as some day may need or start
using.
Thanks heebeegeebees...
