windows screensaver and power options

I bought a new computer on the 23 of September and every thing works fine
except for the power options and screensavers will not go to sleep at the
set time or turn off the monitor and the screensavers do not start either
the computer is an hp pavilion desktop a6433w with windows vista home
premium tried tech support with no good luck can any one please help me I
would very appreciate that very much thank you.

Hi,

Are you using a wireless mouse or keyboard? The software on these is known
to cause this issue. Updating it to the most recent release can often
resolve the problem.
