Windows Script 5.7 Not Valid Win32 Application

Using Windows XP Home XP SP2

In troubleshooting a failure to install Security Update for Windows XP
(KB944338), I followed a procedure recommended in this newsgroup to install
and run Windows Script 5.7. When I attempted to run this I got an error
message indicating that "scripten.exe is not a valid Win32 application." I
downloaded 5.7 again and ran it again with the same error. I then ran
Windows Script 5.6 with no problem, and subsequently tried 5.7 once more
with no success. Any recommendations?

That error usually indicates the file is corrupt.
Get a fresh copy.

Thanks,Engel .... I did repeat the download three times and each attempt to
run this program failed in the same manner.

Problem solved ...I moved the application to the desktop and ran it from
there. Why it didn't run from my download folder within My Documents is a
mystery..but not a problem.

Temporarily disable the installed antivirus/security suite and/or
installed 3rd party firewall/anti-malware software prior to downloading
Windows Script 5.7
*Be sure* to enable the native XP firewall after temp disabling any 3rd
party firewall.
