Still didn't stop 1.1 million machines from getting infected. I just got
a computer from a business to clean up.

1. It had XP at SP1
2. No updates at all.
3. Never been defragged in over five years. When I ran the defrag
application, no blue could be seen, only red.
4. It had 128 MB of PC-133 RAM with a 32MB video card.
5. Firewall was turned off
6. Automatic Updates was compromised with all choices grayed out.

I didn't even bother to check it for malware. I flattened the hard drive
and installed Ubuntu and they now want me to come to the office and
install Ubuntu on all 100 of their computers. They like the idea that an
orange icon appears when there's updates and how easy it is to update
and use.

So this stupid business wants to change all their computers to Ubuntu
because they like the orange icon. HA HA HA. You have been smoking way to
much pot.

By the way, you shouldn't flatten hard drives, that makes them not work.
Usually people wipe them clean and reinstall an OS, but hey, you use Ubuntu
so you really don't know what you are talking about.

Figures.

Not exactly what I wrote. Maybe if you smoke a little pot ... you missed
the part about easy to use.

"Flatten" is slang for reformat. Where have you been, under a rock?

Yeah, but Ubuntu is a whole lot safer than Windows by far.

*sarcasim on* Well geez.....with the tidy way in which they maintenance
their computers who would ever think that they'd have problems with security
*sarcasim off* Do you really think the OS is to blame? I've been running
Windows PCs for many years and so far I've never been virus infected nor has
security been an issue where it was the fault of mine. If Ubuntu or any
other Linux distro were as popular as Windows then the tables would be
turned and linux would be the target and it's vulnerabilities exposed. I
have nothing against linux what so ever.....what ever floats your
boat.....I've even played with it myself from time to time, but certainly in
a case like you've explained, don't blame it on the OS....blame it on the
dumb ass business.
