the update code is KB950582- July 2008. Auotmatic updates is on and all other
updates have been downloaded and installed, except for this one. I get an
error code 80073712 everytime. It won't download properly, only as far as
11%. I have tried to install it manually, where it downloads but doesn't
install. I have removed microsoft. com from the untrusted certificate
publishers, hoping that this would help and it hasn't. I have got rid of
temporary files and reduced the space on my hard drive etc, as told to in the
windows help and support files. It seems really strange that all other
updates have downloaded and installed without a problem, could there be a
problem with the update itself, that needs to be checked on? Please help, as
I am quickly running out of options, and am concerned that my computer is at
risk, from being attacked remotely. Thanks xxx

Hello elyssa.p,

The "Windows Features" dialog box is empty in Windows Vista, or you receive
an error message that includes the following code when you try to use Windows
Update: "0x80073712"

<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931712>

Next step - free Windows Update support incident request:

<https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=6527>

Please report back so it may assist others who have the same problem as you.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

Good luck

You're welcome, glad to have been of service and thanks for posting back.

That's always a nice gesture when we get back a post indicating if the
suggestions were helpful or not.

It helps if you mark your initial question as answered--that will enable
others searching for an answer to find a correct one more quickly.
Was this post helpful to you?
