I have a WIN2K3 Server Standard that I am trying to update using windows
update website and manually. I can't get any of them to install at all. I
also tried to unintall some of the previous updates ie 828026,87339,870763
etc. None of them will uninstall. The reason I wan't to try install the
newest updates is this server is periodically re-starting all on it's own. I
know their is some corruption. I just want to know is their a way to wipe out
all previous updates and re-install them. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

An In Place Upgrade will do it:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=816579
Updates will be gone.
Data and settings should be safe, back-up important data just in case.

Thanks for the help Jupiter. I did try a inplace upgrade, something weird
happend and I received errors. Something about one of the catalog files were
not correct. i think I made a mistake when the install process asked me to
check the web to see if there were files that more current on the web. I told
it to check and download them. I am going to format the drive and try a
restore from tape again. I did that last week and the corruption is on the
tapes. The users did not archive any tapes for me to try and use. I wil also
try the inplace upgrade again but tell it not to check to see if there are
any newer install files. I will post my results on Monday when I get back to
the client site.

Once again thanks for the input.

Well I did the In-Place upgrade and still received errors during the upgrade
process. I did boot from the WIN2K3 CD. I get the following error message. I
have tried it twice.

An eror has been encoutnered that prevents setup from continuing.

Setup failed to install the product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The
setup log files should contain more information.

Press ok to view the setup log file.

Then it gives a error referring the the followinf file. "syssetup.dll"

I have no idea what to do next.

Any suggestions would be great. I am going to restore from tape again and
just let it crash for now until we can get a solution and try again.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Thanks
