Any new features with 2008 I should be aware of for upgrading? we currently
have w2k3 enterprise R2 with Veritas Storage Foundation (Volume Manager) for
managing disks.

Is it true with server 2008 you can resize disk partitions even shrink? thus
I would not longer need a 3rd party product for managin dynamic volumes

There are many things you should be aware of. For starters, you can't
upgrade a Windows 2003 cluster to 2008. You can only "migrate" a cluster
from 2003 to 2008. More details here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc754481.aspx

Yes, it is true that you can resize disk partitions in 2008 and it's also
true that there is a shrink option in 2008. FYI, it was also true that you
could expand partitions in 2000 & 2003 also. Do yourself and your storage
vendor a favor and get rid of VSF if you can ;-)

John

Thanks for your response.

which utility would allow you to expand a volume in 2003 without disrupting
the data? not diskpart right?

And also I kind of agree your comments on VSF - we thought we were the only
ones having issues 4.3 is not as bad as 4.2 -that is for sure!

Yes, diskpart is the tool for expanding partitions in Windows 2000/2003.
