Windows Server 2008 Std Upgrade

I am trying to upgrade our first production server to 2008. I did this with
a test server and it worked fine. Both production and test servers are going
from 2003 Std to 2008 Std. Both are VMs with the same Hardware specs. The
production server has DC, DNS, DHCP, File/Print Roles. I have run ADPrep for
the forest and everything is fine.

When I go to do the upgrade the setup either hangs at "Gathering Files:
20%", or goes through the whole setup and rolls back to 2003 because of an
error. It just tells me to check microsoft for a compatibilty check. I ran
this upgrade 4 times and 3 of those it stopped at 20%.

I also have the problem of it not taking my key, but the test server let me
enter it after the install. So I don't think I have a problem there, but I
thought it should be noted.

Any suggestions??

Hello John,

Is your production environment on VM or did you only test it on VM's? What
Virtual Server do you use MS, VmWare or anything else?

Both Production and Test are VMs in the same Virtual Cluster. It is a VMWare
enivornment.
