Windows Server Update Services oddities

I have two points of contention with WSUS. First when I goto the Admin
website it tellls me that a service (selfupdate) is not running. Looking in
Services on the WSUS box I havent found a service called self update and
restarting Update Services doesnt do much good either.

Also I am having trouble getting computers to check in, and those that do
are only xp clients.... how can I get Win 2000 clients to use WSUS? I have
a group policy set up to point all PCs at the WSUS server for updates, but
havent seen any 2000 clients check in.

Frustrated in Wisconsin...
