Windows Shut down & restart taking ages

Hi, my computer is taking ages to shut down, even the actual process of of
getting the restart, log off, turn off box is taking minutes to come up, even
when all programmes are closed (checked on task manager) can anybody shed any
light on this or suggest how this problem can be fixed? I'm running service
pack 2 which when first installed did prolong the shut down, but I realise
this was due to updates installing, but it never took so long for the turn
off computer box to appear.

I am using Zone Alarm Pro firewall and since the last version update I have
very slow shutdown. Try closing firewall just prior to shutdown. It works
for me.
