windows sp1 problem

Having successfully downloaded and installed windows sp1 when I try to
restart my screen goes black and will not reboot.It appears to be
reregistering but only gets to "!!o x co1 90036!! 5876/69049(inkwatson.exe) "
every time and freezes.After this I am unable to switch off my computer so
I've had to remove battery and let computer repair itself and
restore.Needless to say I've tried this several times and now I'm just
getting frustrated.Anyone encountered the same problem or more to the point
has anyone got a solution?
