I am having problems inside of the Windows Updates program. As it is going
along I get as far as the 'Options' (Express / or Custom ). At that point
it says it needs to register/install required files. I tell it to continue
and it installs and registers it (all the way through the 100% and it hangs
for a bit then gives me

"The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view."

So I was hoping someone here could help me out. Thanks!

Thanks for the response! I checked out the site you gave me and apparently
the problem occurs if someone has NOD32 antivirus software. I have McAfee
Virus Scan. Is that a NOD32?

No, Mccaffe and NOD32 is a different antivirus software.... in any case,
you can probe to disable the antivirus software, and test if WU work
properly.

If it's fail, go to start > run and type

%windir%\windowsupdate.log

And post the file content

**/How to read the Windowsupdate.log file
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=k...2093&x=13&y=13

The error code 0x8007041D, mean that the required services for Windows
Update did not respond to start and/or stop..

Also verify the wuauserv state. Type into a command prompt the following
lines, and press enter key at the end of each line

sc qc wuauserv > wu.txt
sc queryex wuauserv >> wu.txt
sc sdshow wuauser >> wu.txt
sc qc bits wu >> txt
sc queryex bits >> txt

These commands create a file named wu.txt, search this file in your hard
disk and post the content,

fermu,
How do you want me to post the contents of the files? this site won't
accept more than 30000. Up to the point it stopped, I had 589,000 +.

Fermu,
Find enclosed the full readout of the Wu.txt file and a partial copy of the
WindowsUpudate.log file. On the Updatelog, I gave you the start of the
problem and a bit from the end. Let me know if it helps you or if you want
more information from my end.

This issue is caused by a incorrect permissions set for wuauserv service...

could you post the output for "sc sdswhow wuauserv" command?

also try typing "net start wuauserv" from a command prompt

is there any error message?

The output is all right...

please, try this steps: control panel > administrative tools > service >
find wuauserv in the list and double click on it, click the log on tab
and select "local system account"

Note: You do not need to select the Allow service to interact with
desktop check box.
