Hi

Automatic updates downloaded 8 updates on 5-8-07. The download and
installation went ok, no problems.

However, when I tried to open Internet Explorer 7, Version 7.0.5730.11, it
would not open; instead I got a pop-up panel titled “File Download – Security
Warning”. This warning stated; do you want to save this file? (Name navcancl)
This was confusing, did not know what to do, so I said cancel. The panel
disappeared form the screen but EI did not open. I tried several times to no
avail. I can not open EI. Why??

I did use “restore” and jumped back in time. I now can open EI.

I would like to get the 8 updates for my computer. What must I do?

>From the name I would guess it could be from Norton AntiVirus. Might
want to peruse the Symantec website if you are indeed using Norton.

See 'Known issues with this security update > Controls that prompt before
they are loaded' section of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931768

1. Try opening IE in No Add-ons mode & see if this behavior persists. If it
doesn't, change your IE home page to "blank" then close IE7 and reopen
normally (i.e., with all Add-ons enabled) and see if the behavior returns.

2. If still no joy, reopen in No Add-ons mode, reset IE settings
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737), close IE, open normally and see if
the behavior still persists.

This is all related to a cross-site security vulnerability addressed by
MS07-027/KB931768: http://secunia.com/advisories/24535/

EDIT: Also try this fix, courtesy of MVP Robert Aldwinckle:

Start > Run > Type or copy/paste the following into the box:

iexplore.exe -nohome -extoff

Note the spaces!

Thanks everyone. However, the problem still persists. I had to take my PC to
the shop the second time to eliminate the problem. Every time I update IE it
has the same problem.

I get this pop-up. Do you want to save this file? Name: navcanc . Type:
Unknown File Type, 2.6KB. From: ieframe.dll. IE than crashes!

Just got back from the shop, everything is working fine, DID NOT download
the updates. I have DISABLED the automatic up-dates, don't trust it.

If anyone out there has THE solution, please E-mail me. Thanks
