There is nothing wrong going through Windows Update for
3rd-party driver support. However, one still needs to know
the newness of the version that is present in the Windows
Update site or whether or not it is a beta (or test) version
as well as the presence of the supporting documentation that
describes the rationale for the update or the patches that
were written. IOW, this information is always obtainable from
the original vendor's website. It is the vendor who writes the
driver updates and patches first...not Microsoft.
